Machete don't text.
Just saw this tonight and it was pretty enjoyable. Fantastic for what it is. I just finished a rough draft of my review for it for my college paper. I'm too tired to complete it. Tomorrow's a new day, as they say.
I wasn't planning on posting my actual review (the one that will run) but I will certainly tell you what I thought. I haven't seen The American yet but I can assume that it attempts to have substance where Machete knows to stick with the lack. It does try a tad to make a comment on the state of immigration, failing completely to say anything that goes beyond camp stereotype, but it quickly realizes what kind of film it is and goes back to what people are there for (blood, sex, and Cheech Marin...maybe Cheech was just me). The film certainly doesn't bother with plot or character development but it references that itself (especially with the end line about Machete rather being a myth than a real man) and has fun with the lack.
i watched this and The American in the same day yesterday.
ReplyDeleteso i'll be interested to read your review...
